Story

Cyrille is one of those hunters whose exploits have spread far beyond her original City by tall tales, some of which are even true. It is true that when she was a teenager she survived a close encounter with a raging bear on her own. It is also true that after more than two decades hunting on the Tundra she has killed countless apex predators. If the beasts had any sense they would surely warn each other to beware of where the huntress treads.

One of the reasons that Cyrille's legend might be perhaps more well-known is that she has kind heart and is dedicated to protecting survivors and the boundaries of different outposts. Her kindness is legendary in a land where every traveler feels like an island, well-informed by the horrid aftermath of claws and fangs on unfortunate survivors.

Years of experience have given Cyrille an understanding of all the major predators' weaknesses and habits which she uses to great effect, especially against the raging bear. Cyrille has pioneered many new bear traps, exploding arrowheads, and tactics. She also fears what these giant super-predators represent: a distorted form of life that has flourished since the collapse of the old world and warning about what might happen if humanity lets its guard down.

Cyrille often travels together with her friend Cloris, with whom she has an unspoken mentoring relationship.

Cyrille first encountered Cloris running for her life through a snowstorm and assumed she had been separated from a hunting party. Little did she realize Cloris was not lost but hiding. The noise of the bandits' makeshift snowmobiles came roaring through the blinding snow. They were surrounded. Time was running out. It would be the first time Cyrille would have to spill human blood, but the experience did not affect her much. For the blood of a bandit who preys on the innocent and the blood of a wild beast is not too different in Cyrille's eyes.

Reports of large-scale attacks against cities by even larger beasts worry Cyrille. Most attacks happen at night. Even where there are witness, no one seems to be able to exactly identify the creatures responsible. Nor are any usable tracks left behind—unless the animal is clever enough to conceal its movements. Either way, Cyrille's curiosity is piqued by this new threat to civilization. So when so many survivors are looking for answers, Cyrille may find herself working alongside a new Chief with a bold enough vision for how to put a stop to this threat.
