Heroes can bring you benefits even outside the battlefield. So far, there are four heroes who can add extra bonus to your gathering marches: Charlie for Coal, Cloris for meat, Smith for iron and Eugene for wood!  When you gather resources, remember to take the particular heroes which help you the most with the resource needed and benefit from increased gathering speed.
