Seigel is the strongest of the Night's Guard by far. The roaming "Shield of Hell" is also far more tenacious than any other member of the Guard, able to endure battle for days in Hell's dark mist. Seigel is a shield both literally and physically. He stands between fellow soldiers and the horrors beyond.
Seigel can do all these things because he is the man who returned from the land of crystal death. No signs of insanity or the rage of the Blood Moon show themselves in him even if his body is slightly deformed. If Seigel still suffers anything from his time behind the veil of Hell it is only the loss of his memories. If memories "make the man", then Seigel is both lucky and cursed. Whatever pain there was has been left behind. For he is a blank sheet now, free to engage in what gives him meaning: fighting alongside his brothers-in-arms!
Viveca stumbled across Seigel on a patrol into the heartland of Hell, still infested by Blood Moon Plague sufferers. Overconfident in their arms, Viveca allowed her men to be cornered by a sudden ambush. Empty city streets were suddenly filled by violent, twisted beings. It is hard to say if Viveca would have survived without help. Seigel suddenly burst through the encirclement, cutting a path with a viciousness Viveca used to escape.
"It was like watching a golem lay in to a whirlwind of red claws as Seigel threw twisted limbs onto the scrapheap!" Seigel's exploits became more than a rescue by a mortal man in their retelling. Once Viveca and her men reached a safe distance they turned to help Seigel, who was covered with scars that should have laid him six feet under. Not only did Seigel recover quickly but showed no signs himself of being infected. When a shocked Viveca asked how he had traveled so far into infected territory, he said he had been living there for months... perhaps years.
Seigel was given a guard of honor back to the Night's Guard headquarters where Philly conducted a thorough physical examination—from a safe distance. She found Seigel had miraculously escaped unscathed from Blood Moon infection. Or at least that was the report Philly revealed to the Night's Guard...
The Guard were happy to induct a survivor of inhuman strength into their ranks and crowned him with an honorific previously given to one of their fallen comrades. Seigel's great fighting strength was then enhanced by a long spear and coat of spike armor with which he could stand at the vanguard. The reservations of Seigel's brothers-in-arms were quickly dispelled by his protective valor. With each fellow Guardsman's life saved, Seigel built trust among the troops. He would surely be a captain now were it not for his apparent lack of humor and inability to understand the finer cues of human interaction.
Philly and Viveca have not been entirely forthcoming about Seigel's true nature.
Philly's examination did not reveal Seigel escaped the Blood Moon Plague, but the opposite: he showed every sign of infection in his blood serum. In fact, Seigel was much closer to an infected than an ordinary human being at a microscopic level. Yet somehow he had managed to retain his own humanity, now boosted by inhuman strength. Philly has conjectured that in many ways Seigel could be described as another life form, not fully human, nor infected. Only time will tell if it can be called "superior".
Far more interesting to Viveca are his recollections of Hell. "I always knew there was a presence out there in the mist... calling to me. Trying to establish contact," Seigel remarked in interviews kept confidential from others. "It was a person and not a person—perhaps many people. It was trying to show me how it saw the world. I knew if I let myself see the world through its eyes, it would be more wonderful and stranger than I could imagine..."
Seigel described feeling hate for the Entity by instinct. His heart rose up to bite its welcoming hand. Then the Entity's voice grew more distant, especially after joining the Night's Guard. Only time can tell whether Viveca can use Seigel's experiences to gain a better understanding of their enemy.

Seigel extends the metal spikes on his armor for 5 seconds, increasing Defense by 5%/10%/15%/20%/25% and reflecting 5%/10%/15%/20%/25% of damage back to attackers.
Seigel lunges forward with his mighty spear, dealing Attack*40%/45%/50%/55%/60% area of effect damage to enemies in a straight line before swinging in a fan-shaped arc for Attack*40%/45%/50%/55%/60% area damage to enemies in its path.
Life in Hell has endowed Seigel with dark determination, reducing damage taken by 4%/8%/12%/16%/20% and granting immunity from negative effects for the first 6/7/8/9/10 seconds of battle.
Seigel will always seek to bring the most advanced weapons and armor of the Night's Guard to his outfit, increasing Health by 5%/10%/15%/20%/25% for all troops.
Seigel would rather blunt an enemy's spear than sharpen his own. His Infantry suffer 4%/8%/12%/16%/20% reduced Attack, but the additional protection reduces enemy Marksman and Lancer Attack by 7%/14%/21%/28%/35%.
Seigel's inhuman defenses and iron will are transferred to Infantry under his command, reducing damage from normal attacks by 5%/10%/15%/20%/25% or 6%/12%/18%/24%/30% from enemy skills.
