Valeria
Story
Valeria of the Dawnbreaker Brigade is an extremely talented commander, known for her versatile mastery of textbook Imperial tactics and leading one of the largest armies the Tundra has ever seen.
The Brigade has been very friendly with the Dawn Alliance during Valeria's leadership, especially after her defense of several Cities during Phaethon's River of Rage invasion. This battle has been called Valeria's "impossible victory" where she held off a much larger, better-equipped Phaethon force by using the local terrain to her advantage.
Valeria never intended to serve in the so-called Dawnbreaker Brigade or any other resistance against imperial authority. Nor did she expect to be serving alongside so many knights drawn from the lower social classes or their commoner brethren. The daughter of a noble family with military aspirations, Valeria's presence shows the apple has indeed fallen very far from the tree. Now Valeria has become the key to the Brigade's survival on many occasions.
Valeria's hometown of Altea is the only Imperial city in the Empire to endure the Collapse. Many noble families took refuge there, Valeria's among them. There, Valeria completed her training with high honors, raising hopes that she might one day help the Alteans reclaim the Tundra under the glorious banner of Empire.
Valeria had doubts about the Altean aristocracy for a long time. What right had they to rule Altea so brutally? Did rebellion really merit punishment worse than death? The human cost of Altean power chilled Valeria to her core. Its horrors were behind Valeria's decision to throw her lot in with "rebels" and bid farewell to endless bloodshed.
Leaving Altea was no easy feat, but Valeria eventually found her way to the Dawnbreakers. Valeria has tried to avoid raising her sword against former countrymen, but that was then and this is now. Altea's ambitions grow ever greater. Many Cities near Valeria's Dawnbreakers have now been swept up in the carnage of Altea's dreams of empire. With so many Cities ransacked and their survivors pressed into servitude, the time has come for Valeria to make another difficult decision. She is well and truly involved in the battle for her life, and it has proved more complex than she dared imagine. Fortunately, she has had the benefit of a kind Chief who has taken courageous steps to resolve this latest crisis.
